Social Security Disability Benefits and Cancer

Cancer is a life-changing diagnosis. It's understandable if you want to work, but that may be impossible now. What can you do?

You can talk to us at Binder & Binder®. With locations nationwide, we help thousands of clients suffering from cancer and other serious medical problems.

We represent people whose lives have been changed by many different kinds of cancer:

  • Brain cancer
  • Breast cancer
  • Cervical cancer
  • Hodgkin's disease and Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
  • Leukemia
  • Lung cancer
  • Ovarian cancer
  • Pancreatic cancer
  • Prostate cancer
  • Skin cancer
  • Stomach cancer
  • Testicular cancer

Your Doctor and Your SSD Case

Will your treating physician be supportive of your case? If your case is denied at the initial claim and reconsideration levels of the Social Security Disability process, you may need a statement from your doctor that fully documents your cancer diagnosis to support your case.

It might make sense to talk about your disability claim with your doctor to find out whether he or she is supportive of the idea. If your doctor is not, you might want to consider looking for another doctor. This is a smart way to protect your interests and your health.
