Social Security Disability in Sacramento, California

ssd ssi approved.jpg width=

The Sacramento region has the greatest number of Social Security Disability (SSD) recipients in California. This is twice the number of 15 years ago. Working-age adults in the Sacramento region are 40 percent more likely to be receiving SSD benefits than people elsewhere in California.

Why? Like everywhere else, there are lots of aging baby boomers California and proportionately more of them in the Sacramento region. And, like everywhere else, the numbers are affected by a poor economy, which makes finding jobs very difficult for disabled workers. In fact, disabled workers in the Sacramento area are more than twice as likely to be unemployed than those without disabilities.

The consequences of the baby boomer explosion and the fragile economic recovery are being felt everywhere in California and across the United States. However, the recession has been worse in the Sacramento area than in other parts of the state. As a result of all these factors, around 57,000 workers in the Sacramento region receive SSD benefits.

To put the situation in perspective, one in 17 workers in the area receives SSD benefits, whereas the average for all of California is one in 24 workers receiving disability. Sacramento County has more disabled workers than any of the other 10 largest cities in the state. This will continue for some time, as the area leads the state in disability applications.

If you are a disabled worker and live in the Sacramento area or anywhere else in the United States, having help with your disability claim can be game-changing.
