A Twenty Year Battle For Benefits

Applying for Social Security Disability benefits isn't an easy process. It not quick, either. There are endless forms, questionnaires, and requirements. And, at the end of it all, the likelihood that a claim will be approved is slim. In fact, the majority of Initial Applications for disability are denied. Once appealed to the Reconsideration level, the majority of those claims are denied as well. Once an individual has made their way through all of the case stages, their average wait time can be over three years (based on the Social Security Administration's own data).

Social Security Disability and Pensions

A common question about Social Security Disability (SSD) benefits is whether a worker can receive retirement benefits from another source and still receive SSD payments. Some workers may have heard that the Social Security Administration reduces SSD benefit payments when a beneficiary receives income from other sources such as pensions, 401ks, and employer-provided disability insurance.
